Participatory Youth Practice (PYP)
Participatory Youth Practice (PYP) is an evidence-based, research-informed framework of youth justice practice, developed through co-creation and participatory research with young people in Greater Manchester. It uses young people’s lived experiences, supported by academic theory and research evidence, to formulate a new approach to youth justice.
The participatory youth practice framework uses young people’s lived experiences, supported by academic theory and research evidence, to suggest a new approach to youth justice. We have co-created eight youth-led principles with young people themselves, which then inform our practitioner resources and session guides.

Youth-led principles
Participatory Youth Practice is based on a set of eight theoretically-framed principles for youth justice practice that were co-created with young people.
These are…

Our eight youth-led principles of youth justice practice, explained in the words of young people themselves through their creative lyric writing and presented in a creative and engaging video.
